McDaniel's Favorite Christmas Songs: Heavenly Hymns

Merry Christmas sisters and brothers!
I pray today you are enraptured by the gift that is our Messiah, wrapped in flesh.

"A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices".
This is exactly how I feel about Jesus.
He is truly a thrill of hope for our weary world.
This specific version of the well known O Holy Night, was Matthew's pick.
How easy it is to get lost in this song.
Josh Groban's passionate and clear voice makes the praise-filled lyrics stand out.
I encourage you to listen as if it's the first time you've ever heard it.
If it doesn't make your heart swell to hear him belt out "Christ is the Lord", I don't know what ever could.
This song makes me want to stand, arms raised, and sing at the top of my lungs, even though I wouldn't even come close to sounding like Mr. Groban.

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is going to Christmas Eve service with my mom.
Sometimes the whole family goes, other times it's just the two of us.
It's such a beautiful way to prepare our hearts for the celebration of Christ's birth.
The best part of any Christmas Eve service, in my opinion, is when the entire congregation lights a candle and sings Silent Night.
The musicians quiet their instruments and the honest, clear voices of God's beloved people fill the sanctuary.
Tears always find their way down my cheeks and the Holy Spirit engulfs us.
It's a small but glorious taste of how we will worship in the Kingdom one day.
I often wish that the entire service would just be us singing with candles and arms lifted in praise.
Chris Tomlin's live version of Silent Night sounds just like it was recorded during such a service.
I implore you to close your eyes while you let it play and meditate on this great gift.
You probably should listen to the entire album I pulled this song from.
It's called Adore and is filled with Christmas worship music.
